Enjoy a day of musical, artistic and gastronomic delights at Christchurch’s Nostalgia Festival this February. Held among the historic grounds of the Ferrymead Heritage Park, the Nostalgia Festival is a celebration of great food, creative arts and crafts and entertainment – fun for the whole family.

Who’s Going To Be There?
The Festival features a great mix of New Zealand’s entertainers performing across two stages for the duration of the Festival.
Main stage artists include Trinity Roots, C.W. Stoneking, Mama Kin Spender, The Beths, The Miltones, Holly Arrowsmith and Adam Hattaway & The Haunters. RDU 98.5 FM Stage artists include Soaked Oats, The Butlers, Deep Water Creek and Cowboy Machine plus many more.
What’s To Eat?
Treat yourself with a culinary extravaganza of foods from local chefs, producers and foodies including traditional homemade Mexican tacos and burritos from Tiki Taco, vegan delights from the team at Green Dinner Table and handmade plant-based ice creams and sorbets from Utopia Ice.
Or grab some slow cooked meats American style with Smokey T’s, organic wraps, salads and vegan icecream from Pure Pulp, delicious American style gourmet bagels and donuts from the Grizzly Bagel or Kathmandu style momo dumplings from the experts at Kung Fu Dumplings.
Head over to BearLion Foods for sugar free allergy friendly snack style foods at their best, Cakes By Anna for vegan, dairy free and gluten free cake slices, Gatherings for some classic London style street foods with a plant based twist or Richard Till’s Real Food for a classic Spanish style Paella in gigantic proportions.
What’s To Drink?
Enjoy a diverse range of beverage options from local craft beer or wine through to specialist non-alcoholic options. Hit the Cassels & Sons tent for a range of specialty beers from the Woolston base brewery or the Growers Wine Bar for a selection of fine New Zealand wines from Pegasus Bay Winery.
Grab a coffee from the Lyttelton Coffee Company, Kombucha on tap from the team at Wabi O Kombucha or some feel-good cold drinks from Karma Cola or Pure Pulp for organic fresh juices. The Whyte Cat Cocktail Bar provides a great selection of cocktails as well as great views of the main stage.
Where’s It At?
The Nostaligia Festival is to be held at Christchurch’s Ferrymead Heritage Park, located at 50 Ferrymead Park Drive, Ferrymead, Christchurch.
The 1900s replica township of Ferrymead Heritage Park provides the perfect backdrop for the 2018 Nostalgia Festival. Heritage exhibitions and displays line the streets of the replica Edwardian township which include a school, general store and working train station.
Vintage aeroplanes, trams, trains, cars, tractors and fire engines along with photography, printing, post and telegraph items are on display. Visitors can also ride the steam train and trams.
How Much Does It Cost?
Nostalgia Festival tickets are available for purchase online, door sales will only be available if tickets are not previously sold out online. Tickets cost:
- $48 for adults
- $31 for youths (13-17 years)
- $20 for children aged 6 to 12 years
- $154 for a family pass of two adults and three children under the age of 12.
Special event bus tickets departing and returning to Latimer Square in the central city are also available when purchasing your tickets online.
How Do I Get There?
Festival goers can choose to make their way to the festival via car, bus, bike or on foot (if they are lucky enough to live nearby).
The Ferrymead Heritage park is approximately 17 minutes’ drive from the central city, 30 minutes from the Christchurch International Airport and 45 minutes from Rangiora or Rolleston.
Car parking is available off Ferrymead Park Drive in the Ferrymead Sports Fields. This will be staffed on the day and well sign posted.
Public bus services will be running throughout the day, see Metro Info for more information. The bus from the central city will take about 40 minutes depending on stops and traffic. From the airport it will take approximately 1 and half hours.
In keeping with the sustainable theme of the festival biking is an encouraged form of transport. Biking from the central city will take approximately 35 minutes; the route is flat the entire way making for an easy ride.
Alternatively festival goers can join the festival Bike Gang via Facebook and join other like-minded bikers on their way to the festival. A complimentary Goblet reusable cup and beer voucher are part of the deal.
Bike racks are provided next to the main festival entrance beside the Ferrymead Heritage Park office.
What Else Do I Need To Know?
- Visitors are able to purchase alcoholic (and non-alcoholic) beverages from one of the onsite vendors, no drinks are permitted from outside the grounds.
- Animals and pets are not allowed within the Ferrymead Heritage park grounds.
- All children under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by an adult ticket holder.
- No glass is allowed on site, all cups are reusable (washing stations are provided).
- There will be first aid facilities provided onsite.
- The event will go ahead even if wet weather occurs.
